What Civil Court Records Include

Civil court records in Thurston County cover the full course of a legal dispute. A typical case file includes the initial complaint or petition, responses from opposing parties, motions filed during the case, court orders, and the final judgment. Contract disputes, property matters, and tort claims all generate these documents.

Domestic relations files contain dissolution petitions and decrees, parenting plans, child support orders, and modification requests filed after the original order. Probate records document will admissions, estate inventories, creditor claims, and final distribution orders. Guardianship cases include petitions, background reviews, and approved care plans. Most civil records are public. Sealed cases, adoption files, mental health records, and juvenile dependency matters are restricted by state law.

Copy Fees

Hard copy non-certified pages cost $0.50 each. Electronic copies are $0.25 per page. Certified copies are $5.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each page after that. Certified copies ordered online are delivered with a certification page and instructions for verifying authenticity. Hard copy certified documents are sent by U.S. mail.

Viewing records through the Odyssey Portal or on the public terminals at the courthouse is free. The Clerk Documents app allows you to search and purchase documents online. For any records not available through that app, submit your request by email and the Clerk's office will respond with a cost estimate before you pay.
